WYOMING COUNTY COMMUNITY FAIR: UPDATE FOR BASKETS AND KINDLY REMINDERS
Baskets Galore is all about St. Mary’s presence at the Wyoming County Community Fair. Our goal is to have 50 baskets available for the raffle. We are inching our way there. With a little over half promised to date. I want to thank everybody who has come forward to donate so far. Without you there would be no Baskets Galore!!!
This is a very important church fundraiser. If you have never been to the Fair, let me tell you that this is a very sought-after booth. At our drawing, we get quite the crowd of people waiting to see if they were the lucky winner... We want to keep our booth a sought after tent so please, if you can, donate a basket. You don't have to make one up yourself. Go together with a friend or there may be monetary donations put together to make a money tree (which is always a crowd pleaser).
Kindly reminders are: Please – no perishables (it gets very hot at the Fair). We ask that the baskets be at least a $50.00 value. If you can wrap your basket, please do so in clear basket wrapping plastic. If you cannot – NO problem; we will do it. Please provide a list of contents & name(s) of the donor. We need to have it displayed with your basket. Please: no real money. For security purposes, it has to be play money. I can provide that if needed for you. No real lottery tickets either (you can give them to me for safekeeping). Or I can take a picture of your lottery basket and put it in a frame if you choose, or make play copies of the tickets. I also transfer out gift cards with voided ones. DON'T WORRY: ALL THE REAL STUFF IS KEPT SAFE AND IS AWARDED ON THE NIGHT OF THE DRAWING OR, IF PICKED UP AFTER THE FAIR, THEY WILL GET IT THEN.
We would ask you to get the baskets to us by Saturday, August 13th (definitely no later than August 20th). Our goal is to once again have all the baskets set up in the hall so that we can give everybody the opportunity to see them and also to buy a chance if they won’t be able to attend the Fair. We will have the tables set up in the hall exactly as they will be at the Fair on the weekend of August 27-28. We are aware that not everybody goes to the Fair so they never get to see what a beautiful presence we portray – one that every parishioner should be proud of.
Please call us with any questions or basket donations.
